Name after Henry M. Flagler a
railroad and oil magnate of Florida.
His power was just as strong
in the oil industry in the 1870s and 1880s, and he left a
permanent mark on the state of Florida. Born in New York to a
Presbyterian minister. Flagler walked the path from poverty to
wealth. Self-motivation and ambition led to his success as a
partner in the Standard Oil Company. |

Look familiar, the kiosko, the monument!! The above picture is the Plaza dela Constitucion. It used to be the first public market in the USA. It was established by Governor Mendez de Canzo in 1598. Here the first time a standard system of weights and measures was introduced in the USA. On this site a market for the sale of meats and produced was erected in 1824 and in use until 1888 following a disastrous fire in this area April 11, 1887 |
